Monetary Misdirection Over Message

|

I’m sorry, but I just can’t help myself. I’ve got to spend a little more time on the Wisconsin election. The latest spin coming from the left, which lost in epic fashion, is that they were outspent by a margin of seven-to-one! Wow, that’s a major difference to be sure, but like so much of what the left peddles on a regular basis it is simply not true.

When you crunch the numbers you find that Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s side and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett’s team each spent about the same amount. Team Walker spent about $30 million, while Team Barrett spent about $25 million. Scott Walker raised money from supporters in his home state and certainly received help from outside Wisconsin, as well. But then again, so did the anti-Walker folks. In fact, the recall-Walker measure was orchestrated and financed by major left-wing activists with the organized labor movement at the point.

The leftists tell us they lost in Wisconsin because the people did not hear their message; in fact, they lost because people did hear their message.
