Mapping Superstorm Sandy

|

For a devastating perspective on how Sandy literally shifted the contours of the eastern coastline, William Teach over at Pirate’s Cove points to Google’s crisis map, which uses pre- and post-Sandy imagery to track the storm’s coastal damage from New York to Virginia. In the Google page’s right sidebar, click the ‘Post-Sandy Imagery’ checkbox and then click the ‘Zoom to area’ links.

I still have a lot of friends and relatives who live Down East; so exit question: Given the extensive hardship, heartache, and overall loss impacting the Northeast in Sandy’s wake, is it wrong of me to feel overly joyed that North Carolina dodged a major bullet on this one?
