Another Violent Felon On Parole, Another Armed Robbery

|

In a case of justice gone awry that’s all too familiar in Mecklenburg County, a violent felon out on parole was back on the streets causing more mayhem. This time it was Zavier Marquis Davis, who police shot during an armed robbery attempt early Friday morning at a Wendy’s restaurant on Park Road.

The 25-year-old Davis, who was shot in the leg and is being held at Carolina Medical Centers, was on parole for a 2005 felony armed robbery conviction, the overriding charge on nine other felony armed robberies that were rolled into one consolidated judgment, a plea deal that fetched all of 5 years, 1 month on a maximum sentence of 6 years, 11 months. Davis also had received probation on a 2002 breaking-and-entering conviction.

Davis was released from prison in February, after compiling a string of nearly two dozen offender infractions committed while behind bars, including three cases of sexual acts, possession of illegal substances, and assault with weapon.

His latest charges include two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, four counts of kidnapping, and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.
