Ooohhhh! Ahhhhh!
Another shiny new thing for uptown! And judging by the packed-house attendance at a community forum to update progress on Charlotte’s streetcar project, the excitement and anticipation is palpable.
Check out the video from News 14.
And it’s evident that our city’s braintrust not only remains completely clueless about where to find $1.5 million to cover annual operating costs for the streetcar’s first leg, they also have absolutely no idea how to fund the entire line’s projected $500 million tab.
“When we get to the end of the four years, who knows what other opportunities there may be,” says John Mrzygod, city transit services manager. “There may be other federal grants that we may be able to take advantage of.”
Or there may not. Who knows, the money might sprout in full from the ground, or Mayor Foxx might hit the lotto.
Hope. Change. Wonderfulness.
I’m just glad our city leaders have a plan in place.
