CMS Up For Lease
Well, at least parts of it. The Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners last night relinquished its right of first refusal to either purchase or lease nearly a dozen institutes of lower learning recently shuttered by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, clearing the way to put the properties up for lease on the open market.
Tell me it would not be perfectly fitting for some charter schools to scoop up the buildings and go head-to-head with CMS.
Red flag worse-case scenario: word that a push is already under way to have a flood of taxpayer-subsidized special interest groups tie up the properties with one of local GovCo’s infamous $1-a-year lease.
In any event, if you know anybody in the market for some slightly used former schoolhouses, tell ‘em to give CMS a holler and make an offer. The list follows:
Amay James Pre-K Center; Davidson IB MS; Double Oaks Pre-K Center; Midwood HS; Pawtuckett ES; Plaza Road Pre-K Center; “Old” Sedgefield ES; Smith MS; Tryon Hills Pre-K Center; Wilmore ES; and Wilson MS.
