$25,000 Worth Of Pure CRVA Arrogance
Mayor Anthony Foxx is stomping his feet and gnashing teeth that a $25,000 audit of the CRVA conducted by the CRVA with PricewaterhouseCoopers tagging along for the ride, has produced little but empty words. Literally.
The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority today released a two-and-a-half page missive, penned by a CRVA board member, that is supposed to serve as a summary report of the $25K pseudo audit, which basically found that everything was hunky-dory with the CRVA although the agency’s expense account spending could stand further review and modification.
The summary report is all that’s left in the wake of the audit theater because – wait for it – there is no written report from PricewaterhouseCoopers. This from the uptown paper:
When the Observer asked for the written copy of the PricewaterhouseCoopers report that was given to the board, Hedrick said there is no written report, and that the consultant only gave a verbal summary to the board, which [CRVA board member] Durboraw then summarized.
It’s honestly beyond me what has Foxx and Co. in such a tizzy. If they wanted even a modicum of accountability from the CRVA, they could have stopped this charade of a disappearing ink audit before it even got started, saved $25K, and demanded a complete overall of the CRVA on threat of withholding funding. But of course, they haven’t.
And don’t expect them to anytime in the near future.
