Mitt’s Grits and Grins
There are plenty of stories about Mitt Romney putting his foot in his own mouth. Some of these linguistic misadventures are the result of some careful editing; some from the strategic removal of context; and then there are those times where Romney just can’t help himself.
I don’t begrudge Romney any of his millions and frankly I fully understand when he says he knows lots of NASCAR team owners as well as owners of NFL teams. Those are his friends and the circles in which he travels, and I don’t think he should have to apologize for that. However, when Romney’s lust for the Presidency is so strong that he engages in pathetic pandering, my head starts to spin.
On a visit to Michigan, Romney proclaimed his love for big lakes, and small lakes and medium-sized lakes. He pointed out that the trees were just the right size. Now he’s pretending to be a lover of catfish and grits and the phrase “y’all” as he campaigns down south. As true Southerners might say: bless his heart, Mitt just can’t help himself.
