McCrory: “I Am Not a Warlock”

|

Alternate headline – McCrory: “I Am Not a Sheep” – shamelessly stolen from guerilla blogger Jeff Taylor, who runs down our former mayor’s strange assemblage of a Gov2012 campaign team:

Pat McCrory — long regarded as an easy mark by GOP consultants looking to take his money — has hired Fred Davis to helm his TV campaign for the fall.

You might remember Davis from such hits as:

Or perhaps:

What is absolutely true is that Davis did not help Carly Fiorina or Christine O’Donnell win office. And what is absolutely odd about the Davis choice is that Davis failed in North Carolina in 2008 big time, managing to lose the state to Barack Obama for John McCain while failing to re-elect Elizabeth Dole. At the start of the 08 election cycle both of those outcomes were widely regarded as longshots.

Less surprising is the inclusion of tried-and-true insiders with tight connections to special interests on the team, especially to home builders and realtors. Why North Carolina Republicans think aping the Florida bubble economy — let alone getting into bed with the banksters — is a good idea (or good politics) remains to be seen.

Maybe Fred Davis can explain it all with a TV ad.

I am not a sheep. I am not a RINO. I’m nothing. You’ve heard?

Gulp. Hop over to read Taylor’s full column, which I’m too lazy to crib here.
