Reality Trumps Bizarro World
Here are two stories which point out that we may very well be living in Bizarro World. You remember that comic book, where everything looked like planet earth and people looked, well, like people but it was all upside down and backwards.
First stop on our tour of the twisted takes us to Falmouth, Mass., where the acting chairwoman of the board of selectmen opted to have a poem recited instead of the Pledge of Allegiance. When she was called on it she just shrugged and said ~ no pledge for you. I am not sure if the poem began with the words “there once was a man from Nantucket” or “there once was a lady from Falmouth,” but I’ll check into that further.
Next stop is the social security disability office, which has been paying $700 a month to a convicted murderer because the poor man suffers from post traumatic stress disorder. The stress he claims is caused by being in prison for murder. I wonder if the man he killed or that guy’s family gets a disability check? I’m just curious.
