Nanny State Menu Mafia

First it was New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg who decided that he was really everybody’s mommy. A few weeks back Momma Mike took steps to outlaw the sale of large sodas in New York. No more super sizing for you. As the fizz was still settling on the big gulp grab, Ma Bloomie’s Board of Health decided to target milk products and popcorn. They simply won’t be happy until we’re all as miserable as they are.

Not to be outdone, the City Council over in the People’s Republic of Cambridge decided it had to weigh in. Last night Cambridge’s mayor introduced a measure that would direct the city health department to outlaw the sale of soda and other sugary drinks in restaurants. The mayor’s official biography points out she has degrees in social work and public administration, so she must know better than all of the rest of us do, right? Oh, and before she became a payroll patriot, she was a freelancer for NPR.

Now I’ve got even more people I have to buy Mother’s Day cards for.
