MainStreet Bypasses Queen City
Despite an encouraging report from the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association, which showed homes sales up 25 percent last month compared to April 2009, the Queen City still got get kicked to the curb by MainStreet.
MainStreet.com, that is. The consumer website recently compiled a list of cities where the recession seems to be fading and employment opportunities growing. Among the Top 20: Durham and Raleigh. Conspicuously absent: Charlotte.
Didn’t these folks from MainStreet get the World Class memo? Do they not know we have a NASCAR Hall of Fame, a gurgling Whitewater Center, an Arena with a leaky roof, and a bevy of shiny new uptown trinkets, replete with a whiz-bang, multi-million-dollar Wayfinding system to direct strangers and lost souls to their destination of choice – like maybe Durham or Raleigh if they want to find a job.
