Christie’s Flag Flap
You know that I like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. In fact, I like him a lot. Like me, he’s a girth-enhanced gentleman. He is about as plain spoken as they come. He’s bright, he’s funny, he’s relatively conservative, he’s a loyal proud Republican. So what’s not to like?
Well, Christie has ordered that flags in his home state of New Jersey to be flown at half-staff on Saturday. Why would that be, you ask. A fallen Airman? Sailor? Soldier? Coast Guardsman? Marine? No, no, no, no and no. Firefighter killed while saving a little kid from a burning building? No, sir. Police Officer shot as he protected innocent people? No, not at all. Christie is ordering the flags flown at half-mast in honor of Whitney Houston.
Boy do I wish I were kidding. I know that she was a native of the Garden State. I know that she was a great singer; but she was no hero. Christie says they did the same thing when Frank Sinatra died. Guess what, Chris. That was wrong, too.
